Fiji Cyclone Winston Appeal

Posted on 10 March 2016 Gavin Glenn

More than 40 people died when Cyclone Winston, the most powerful storm to make landfall in the southern hemisphere, smashed their schools, houses, churches, roads and crops.

A huge tidal surge, up to four metres high, compounded the losses for many villagers.

The 14 villages on Koro Island were among the hardest hit.

Mili Kaitani is a UTC student from Koro Island. Her family has been severely affected by Cyclone Winston. In response to the devastation she has set up a donation box in the library and is seeking donations to assist the local primary school students.

The Primary School for two villages (Koro Island - Nasau and Tuatua) has 236 students and we are hoping to provide them with school bags, stationery (pencil, pen, rulers, rubber, highlighters, crayons, etc.), lunch box water bottles, etc.

If you are able to support this appeal it would be greatly appreciated.
